Craig Berube

Former Head Coach, St. Louis Blues; 2019 Stanley Cup Champion; NHL Analyst, TNT

Craig Berube played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) – 1,054 games – for the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. He was known as an enforcer in the NHL and amassed 3,149 penalty minutes in his career, good for seventh on the all-time list. He retired as a player after the 2003-04 season.

After some time away from the game, he was appointed head coach of the Philadelphia Phantoms, the Philadelphia Flyers’ affiliate team in the American Hockey League, for the 2006–07 AHL season. He went on to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from October 2013 to April 2015.

On June 29, 2016, Berube was named the head coach of the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League, the affiliate of the St. Louis Blues.

On June 15, 2017, Berube was named an assistant head coach for the Blues. On November 19, 2018, the Blues fired head coach Mike Yeo and named Berube interim coach for the rest of the season.

Early in the 2019 season, the Blues were 15–18–4 and last in the league standings. However, they improved through the remainder of the season, going 30–10–5, including a franchise-record 11-game winning streak. As the third seed in the Central Division, they advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the fourth time in franchise history, and the first time since 1970. The Blues later won the series 4–3 over the Boston Bruins, capping off Game 7 with a 4–1 win, earning the Blues their first Stanley Cup title in franchise history and Berube his first Stanley Cup championship as a player or coach.

Berube is only the third interim head coach in NHL history to guide his team to a Stanley Cup title. His 206 wins are the third-most all-time among Blues coaches.

He is currently an NHL Analyst for the TNT network for nationally televised NHL games.
